5 TIPS FOR GETTING A BETTER NIGHTS SLEEP

Getting a good night sleep isn’t always the easiest thing, if its not the weather its our minds over thinking silly things. I have had many a bad nights sleep but also some fabulous sleeps. I get up at 6 every morning which can be exhausting and believe me, I’m still not used to it. It does mean that in order for me to get the recommended 8 hours of sleep, I do have to be asleep by 10 pm which NEVER happens. So naturally, I have been looking for other ways which help me to get a good nights sleep regardless of how many hours. I mean I roughly get about 6 – 7 hours sleep which is not too bad, Im almost at the recommend amount. I know that its not always easy getting a good amount of sleep so I have a couple of tips that may help you if your struggling with your sleep

(lets forget about the fact that we’re currently experiencing a heat wave and the heat is stopping us all from sleeping so in this case, buy a fan)

  1. Fresh bed sheets

now I know that it would be a bit excessive to change your bed sheets every day but if you are struggling with sleep, changing them more regularly may make you feel better when getting into bed allowing yourself to relax a little more and feeling ready to sleep. Im talking once a week or more than that if you feel its necessary

2. Less technology before bed

We all know that we should stay off our phones and laptops before we go to bed but do we listen, of course not. But it does make a difference. You ideally need to do something that relaxes your mind which in turn makes it easier to fall asleep. You could read a book, draw, tidy your room. I sometimes watch a little bit of tv but dont focus on it too much as I find it sometimes helps to make me feel sleepy. Do whatever works for you and take the time to relax because it really does make falling asleep 10 times easier.

3. Eye Mask

I know a lot of people kind of think the idea of an eye mask is hell and that you would feel like your eyes are suffocating but in actual fact it really doesn’t do that at al. granted, an eye mask takes a little bit of getting used to but I literally swear by mine. In a way it forces your eyes to be shut and even when you open them, all you see is dark (which i know some people don’t like). I find that my eye mask kinda tells my brain that its time to sleep and it really works. Ever since I have worn an eye mask, I have fallen asleep SO much quicker than when I didn’t wear one. Its worth a try, it may not work for every one. Its important to note that I don’t take it everywhere with me, I can sleep without it but for the nights when I really need to get to bed and sleep, it comes in handy.

4. Pillow spray

I used to think pillow spray was just a silly pointless product which doesn’t really do anything BUT I was proven wrong. I have been using the This Works Lavender Deep Pillow Spray for a while now and oh my it is AMAZING. I spray it onto my pillows, duvet and the top I’m wearing before sleeping and honestly It really works. I think its down to the smell of the lavender which relaxes your senses and sends you into a lovely sleep. Honestly I would 100% recommend buying this products because it does work and it really helps me to get to sleep. I cant remember the last time I couldn’t get to sleep. (apart from the heatwave we’re currently having)

5. Comfort is key

We all want to be comfy when we’re sleeping, its pretty much the most important thing when going to sleep. You want to get into bed a feel comfy. This may be wearing a certain type of pyjamas or its sleeping with 5 pillows, sleeping with no pillows, having a double thickness duvet or even just having a good quality mattress. My top tip, if you’re wanting to make your bed extra comfy is to get yourself a mattress topper. I don’t have one but I know people that do and they love them and the comfort level is through the roof. Every time I sit on someones bed and they have a mattress topper, its like floating on a cloud. Definitely something else thats worth a try if you are struggling to get some zzz’s.

Sleep is worth investing in because at the end of the day, you sleep every night so whatever it is that you invest it, you’ll get your moneys worth. If you have any other tips do let me know, I’d love to know what you do to help you get a good night sleep.
