Summer is upon us and piecing together and english summer wardrobe isn’t the easiest of things to do. Its safe to say we experience a range of different weather situations. We cant be easy and just have nice summer weather, oh no, its got to be hail stones one day, hot weather the next, super windy but sunny the following day, oh and then back to rain. Most unpredictable weather award goes to…England.

Naturally, a summer wardrobe here in England isn’t really a thing because 9 times out of 10 you can get away with wearing a knitted jumper. That says it all really doesn’t it. Saying that, we are lucky to experience some nice weather in the summer even if it is only for a weekend at a time. I want to show you my top picks for a summer wardrobe. Some more summer related, others more wearable all year round. If you’re someone who’s not going on holiday this year, its hard to know what summer pieces are really worth having when the weather is so temperamental. Hopefully my picks will help you out a little or at least give you a little bit of wardrobe inspo.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know just how much I love a pair of denim jeans. I could wear jeans every day and not get bored of them. They’re kind of like a comfort blanket to me and I actually really have to make myself not wear them sometimes. Anyways I’m going off on a tangent here. Jeans are a really good piece to have in your summer wardrobe especially for those spring breezier days when its not get your legs out kind of weather. They are a good day to day go to piece which you can wear all year round. Jeans are something thats 100% worth spending a little bit extra on as you will get the wear out of them. My favourite place to buy a good pair of denim jeans is ASOS but other brands such as Topshop, Newlook and Miss Selfridge also sell some fabulous affordable jeans.

You probably know by now that I have an obsession with t shirts. The amount of white t shirts I own is an actual joke. They’re comfy and just go with EVERYTHING. Better yet, they are the best item to team with a pair of jeans on those days when you have nothing to wear. Happens to me on the reg so I know that I can always go back to t shirt and jeans combo. Also great for this time of year as you can layer with a jacket or just keep it simple by themselves.

I have to admit, I am a trainer girl through and through. I have tried to be a girlier footwear girl but it just doesn’t work for me. I am all about the comfort and comfort is perfectly okay. You can get so many different styles of trainers these days so theres a style to suit everyone. I am a huge fan of the white platform converse (here) as well as the platform Superga’s (here) both I own and both I love. They give a bit of a height lift without being uncomfortable. Its a win win. If you wanted to buy a fresh pair of trainers for the summer and you’re not sure where to start…I recommend a simple white pair of converse as they’re really versatile.

I don’t really need to be the one to tell you that basket bags are everywhere because you probably already know that. BUT I’m all for the trend and you bet ya girl has got a little collection going. A basket bag just instantly gives a summer vibe to your outfit. You could be wearing jeans and a t shirt, pop a basket bag with it and bam you’re summer ready.

This is my all time favourite summer trend ever. I love it. It couldn’t get more girly than a bit of white embroidery. I have a little collection which is quickly growing into a large collection. Zara is full of embroidery anglaise and I’m all for it. I have recently bought the CUTEST little dress which gives all the summer vibes but they have about 1001 different embroidery anglaise tops to chose from. If you’re going to invest in one summer trend, it has to be this one. It comes back every year and every year I LOVE IT even more.

An unusual one but leopard print its everywhere, whether it be a pair of shoes or a dress its become a thing and once again I’m sold. Theres something about a pop of leopard print which just gives me all the model off duty vibes and I’m all about that look. I have to admit its not the easiest print to wear but you don’t need to go crazy, I have a beaut pair of leopard print sandals from Topshop (here) which give that pop of leopard print without being in your face and thats the best way to do it.

Now, this is a given. The minute spring/summer hits, we say good bye to the leather and hello to the denim. Im not huge on denim jackets, I’ve got to be honest. I don’t know why, I just never get drawn to them BUT saying that I have my eye on a white denim jacket which my wardrobe could definitely benefit from. Better yet, It will make your tan look even better and I’m living for that.

Start with these summer pieces and you’ll be well on your way to a fabulous summer wardrobe. If you need anymore wardrobe tips…send me a message on Instagram – @iamcharlotteolivia or twitter – @iamcharolivia and I will help ya out.
