It’s official, today I am 23…and literally nothing is any different. But one thing that I do know is that I have learnt a lot over my 23 years of life so I thought I’d share 23 things I have learnt.

  1. You don’t have to have your life together by 23.

I don’t know what it is about society today but we feel as if when we start to hit our early twenties that we need to start thinking about settling down and that we should have a decent job and should be doing well. But in reality, thats not how life works and I have realised you really do have to just let life take its path and not worry about where you are at what age.

2. Age is just a number

I feel no older than I did yesterday and you’re only as old as you think you are. I may be 23 but I definitely still feel 18

3. Making you own happiness is key to everything in life

4. Don’t let people stop you from doing what you want to do

I wanted to start a blog/youtube channel when I was at school and I actually did make one but I stopped doing it after a few videos because people found out and I had zero confidence to carry on. I wish I had carried it on as who knows where I would be now but at least I came back to it when my confidence grew.

5. Its okay to not be a wild young person

I feel like I should be living it up and having a wild life…well thats what you assume a 23 year old girl would want to do but I actually think i’ve out partied myself. When I was at uni, I went out at least once a week and I throughly enjoyed pretty much 98% of the nights out I went on. Nowadays I’m more inclined to spend a night at home watching a movie. I have 100% turned into a granny and I’m not mad about it.

6. Creating memories is more important than having things.

I am going to do a full blog post on this because I have so much to say on this topic. But I have become someone who absolutely loves creating a memory, even if that is chilling on the sofa with one of your favourite people. Its time with someone with is far more worth it.

7. Dance like no one is watching

The best feeling in the world is when you don’t care about the judgy group of girls in the corner.

8. Some things take time and its okay for things to not happen straight away

I have become to realise that its okay to not be successful in something straight away. I have been learning to drive for over a year now and still haven’t passed. But its okay because I will pass, I just haven’t had my time yet.

9. Ariana Grande is an absolute queen.

I wouldn’t usually use the word queen but after the manchester attack last year, she really did become a queen. I have been a huge fan of her for years and that concert she did was amazing in so so so many ways.

10. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Im sure you’ve heard this one many times but Its a ritual to live by. If you treat others nicely, you’ll get it back. Some people wont treat you nicely but its because they clearly haven’t heard of this phrase.

11. Dress for the job you want not the job you have

This one is another one to live by. I love to put an outfit together and sometimes it might be a little too much for an average day at work but feeling your best is the most important thing.

12. Positivity is the key to everything

Ever since I stopped being so hard on myself and cut out the negative thoughts, I have been so much happier not only in myself but also with life in general. Positivity is the key to happiness. Trust me.

13. Drama and school girl bitching doesn’t end in school.

There will always be girls you work with who will continue the school girl bitching and have bullying qualities. You cant escape it but its important to make sure you’re not involved with these people and keep your distance without completely ignoring them. after all you do still work with them.

14. It’s okay to say no.

Don’t feel like you have to say yes to everything. Only say yes to the things you actually want to do. theres no pressure.

15. Always make time for yourself

Me time is so important and even more important when you’re having down days. Sometimes its time by yourself that cures the down feeling you have. Even just taking time to have a bath and chill out does the world of good.

16. A smile can go a long way.

A simple smile can instantly show to others that that resting bitch face is only a resting bitch face and not that you’re an actual bitchy person. I have found that giving those people a little smile can actually make them feel better.

17. Work hard for the things you love.

Things don’t happen over night but if you work hard, you will get there.

18. Embrace change.

Change is something I have always struggled with. I like how things are and when they change I’m a bit like oh okay I don’t like this but I have learnt that you have to accept change and if things didnt change life would be incredibly boring.

19. It’s okay to not be a gym girl

In this day an age everyone and their mum is at the gym posting it on social media. do you know what I hate the idea of the gym and its totally okay. You don’t have to be at the gym every day, its okay to do exercise elsewhere.

20. You cant please everyone.

Take life as it is and move on from it. People aren’t always going to like what you do or support you. some people may even be rude straight to your face. accept it and move on.

21. Cherish the time you have with people

People will come an go in your life but its important to enjoy every moment you have with someone even if you know they wont be in your life forever.

22. We all make mistakes, we’re only human

This is something I think a lot of people have to remember. We all make mistakes and sometimes its a heat of the moment thing or it was done with good intentions. remember that it was a mistake and its okay to forgive.

23. You have the same hours in a day as Beyonce

Remember that everyone has the same amount of hours in their day and if they are achieving something your not and its getting to you, maybe you aren’t doing enough with your day

I hope you enjoyed…I’m off to enjoy my birthday, cyaaaaaaa

I’m at that point where I’m trying to get better at embracing change because like you said, I just try and remind myself that without change life would be pretty damn boring in it’s entirety.
