Autumn is officially here and I am so excited about it. This is the beginning of my favourite time of year and its also the time to Autumn up your Instagram. Some of you may stick to a certain theme throughout the year or maybe you keep everything white but add a little touch of the different seasons here and there OR your like me and just go all out when we reach a new season.
Now that we have officially hit October, what better time to start the transition from a summer to Autumn Instagram. I mean if you’re not obsessed with Instagram….this really isn’t the post for you but if you are, I hope my tips help you along to a Autumnal Instagram.
How to get an Autumnal Grid..
This probably a given but including colours such as red, brown, cream, black, orange….the typical autumn colours will instantly give your Instagram the feel your looking for. You might do this through the clothes your wearing, the location, leaves on the floor or perhaps its injecting the colours in little ways like something small in the background or a detail on the bag your wearing.
Something that injects that little bit of colour to get you well on the way to a Autumnal Insta.
Now we all know when it gets colder out come the jumpers and the scarves and most importantly the big warm coats. Starting to inject the cosiness of autumn will help to give that all round cold autumnal feel. That idea that when you look at the photo you can tell it was cold….does that even make any sense. Its bringing in the winter clothes but still mixing in the summer pieces you may still have.
For example this photo…
I am wearing more of a summery outfit but I’ve styled it in a slightly more autumnal way. With the use of the fluffy bag along side the red/orange floral print you’ve got that transition from it being a summery feeling outfit to more of a we’re transitioning into autumn outfit. Still got a bit of arm showing its not quite winter but we’re on the way.
Whilst your still including the odd summer piece here and there, you want to include the winter pieces, the pieces we’re all excited for. THE JUMPERS.
I am an absolute sucker for Autumn/winter fashion. Jumpers just have me spending non stop until my bank balance tells me that theres no more money for knitted jumpers. These two outfits show me styling knitted jumpers but in different ways. I haven’t gone crazy on the winter fashion. I haven’t gone crazy on the coats and boots but giving a little taste of autumn and the trends this time of year will help you on the way to that Winter goal we’re all trying to reach. I guess its mixing up the outfits you post and where your outfits are taken. Get creative with it. Add the odd coat here and there. It all depends on what you want your Instagram to be and what you want to post.
The environment that you take your photos can really help to make your Instagram fit the vibe your going for. As you can see, my Instagram has a dark feel to it. Thats just kinda the vibe I’m going for but I’m injecting it with colour through the backgrounds or the places I’m at. Its another way of adding that colour into your photos. Especially if you’re like me and basically wear black all the time.
A few little ideas would be…
Pumpkin patch – Injects that orange colour into your feed
Leaves on the floor – If that doesn’t scream autumn, I don’t know what does
brown/brick backgrounds – this is a good background for any time of year but if you’ve got similar colours running through this can help to bring everything together.
Before I end this post which may or may not have been any help to you lovely lot, I wanted to mention the app UNUM. I believe I heard about this through Fashion Mumblr and it has literally changed my Instagram game. It basically allows you to see what your next Insta photo will look like next to the ones you’ve already posted. Like if it doesn’t go with your feed you know before you post it. Its an amazing app and I use it every time I go to post a new photo. I will often change the photo I want to post just so it goes better. Its kinda shallow in a way but who cares, we all want that perfect Instagram don’t we! I believe that app is free, so go nuts and download it now!
See you in my next post!
